This is a poem that I personally wrote for Dadu after he passed away when reflecting upon his life and our experiences together:
Even before I was born, you were a massive part of my life
And when we first met, I’m sure you greeted me with your smile
We spent those precious years together
Laughing and playing, you were there for me whatever the weather
When I became very sick, you helped to save me
A true hero, but of the people whose life you’ve changed, I was one of many
As I continued to grow up, you were always there
Continuously showing me love, support and care
Gardening, yoga, you loved to do it all
A very active man, ready to help at just the notice of a call
With a smile on your face, you supported everyone
A heart more golden than even the blazing sun
One night you became ill, and suddenly your life changed
It became harder for you to perform the activities you loved again
Despite this, as a family, precious memories were still made
Moments to cherish that will live in our hearts, never to fade
Sometime soon, it was time for you to go
You were suffering, but you waited for us all
You were never alone Dadu, as you were adored so much
And this is because all your life, you showed everyone you met unconditional love
Slowly and slowly, with each second it became harder for you to breathe
Until you stopped; the moment you left was unmistakably bittersweet
For, although we would all miss you when you went to heaven
We knew you would be safe and happy, in Krishna’s arms forever
